The 10th International Meeting on Phytolith Research took place in Aix en Provence (France) at CEREGE, the Centre Européen de Recherche et d’Enseignement en Géosciences de l’Environnement, from Monday 12 September to Wednesday 14 September 2016.
 
The meeting welcomed more than 70 participants and a total of 79 communications (oral and posters), including six keynote speeches that gave a summary of the advances made in various aspects of phytolith research since 20 years.

Conference Announcement

Celebrating 20 years of a multi-facetted research on Phytoliths

The 10th International Meeting on Phytolith Research will take place in Aix-en-Provence (France), at CEREGE the Centre Européen de Recherche et d’Enseignement en Géosciences de l’Environnement from Monday 12 September to Wednesday 14 September 2016.

Contributions are welcome on any aspect of archaeology, paleoanthropology, agronomy, pedology, taphonomy, plant systematics and evolution, plant physiology, biochemistry, paleoecology, paleoclimatology, and paleobiogeography insofar as they involve research on phytoliths.

The meeting is organized in 5 sessions:

— Session 1: Phytoliths in archaeology : new approaches and discoveries
— Session 2: Calibration of the phytolith marker and paleoenvironmental reconstructions
— Session 3: Quantification, localisation, and role of phytoliths in living plants
— Session 4: Phytoliths and the biogeochemical cycles of Silicon and Carbon
— Session 5: Phytolith morphology, morphometry, taxonomy and taphonomy

Our Keynote speakers will be:

Prof. Marco Madella (Catalan Institution for Research and Advanced Studies, Barcelona, Spain); Prof. Caroline Strömberg (Washington Univ., USA); Prof. Carole Perry (Nottingham Trent Univ., UK);  Prof. Zhaoliang Song (Zhejiang Agricultural & Forestry Univ., China), Prof. Guaciara dos Santos (Univ. of California, Irvine, USA); and Dr. Dan Cabanes (Max-Planck Institute for Evolution, Leipzig, Germany).


Abstract submission is possible UNTIL JULY 15 !
